Civil society activists have partnered the Grand Council of Yoruba Youths to drum up support for All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

They converged on Oyo State APC Secretariat in Ibadan to launch a movement, Coalition For A Better Nigeria – Tinubu is a Goal!.

They used the occasion to bestow the ‘Africa Man of the Century Odu’a Award’ to  Asiwaju Tinubu.

The event also witnessed endorsements of Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Dapo Abiodun and Senator Teslim Folarin, APC governorship candidates of Lagos, Ogun and Oyo States.

The Africa Man of the Century award was announced last September at a ceremony to mark Yoruba National Day.

President of the Grand Council of Yoruba Youths, Awa Bamiji, described Tinubu as one of democracy’s greats, adding preparations are on for another event in Febrruary.

He said: “We are happy to honour one of the major pillars of democracy, a builder of people, Asiwaju Tinubu on this occasion.

“We have joined forces with other groups in the universally celebrated advocacy, “2023: Tinubu is a Goal!”, under the aegis of Coalition for a Better Nigeria, projecting Asiwaju Tinubu for 2023 President.

“Preparations are on in states and Abuja to stage February 14 Nigerian Youths 4 Tinubu in Abuja…”

Bamiji hinted of a plan to present Tinubu with a Grand Commander of African Politics award and a “beautifully carved statue of Tinubu playing a football match as Captain of African Football Team in Politics.

These, he said, were planned “in appreciation of Tinubu’s  contributions to human capacity development, politics, and businesses in Africa.

“Notable leaders in and outside Nigeria have indicated  interest in this project .

“Nigerians in Diaspora look forward to mingling with colleagues here in Nigeria”, Awa said.
