Awori monarchs pray for Asiwaju’s victory

Traditional rulers of Awori extraction in Lagos State have prayed for the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinbubu, in the 2023 general elections.

The monarchs gathered at the Igando/Ikotun Local Council Development Area scretariat at the weekend to articulate their support for Tinubu, describing him as the best fit for the job.

The Ojomu of Ajiranland and Chairman of the Council of Awori Kings, Oba Tijani Akinloye I, appealed to his counterparts to admonish their subjects to vote for Tinubu in 2023, saying ‘it is in the best interest of Nigeria to have a man like Tinubu at the front because he will bring his experience and expertise to bear to ensure Nigeria becomes better and greater for our children coming.’

Secretary of the Lagos State Council of Obas and Osolo of Isolo Kingdom, Oba Kabiru Ilufemiloye, described Tinubu as a man fit for the time. He urged the people to vote for Tinubu in the election.

State APC Chairman Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi described the occasion as ‘a proud moment for me being an Awori son myself’. He praised the royal fathers for showing a good example and leading the way.

According to him, the prayers will work at the right time, especially as it came from the heart of people who are next to God.

He added: “Seeing my fathers come together, the first of its kind, to show passion and support to our presidential, governorship and other candidates, identifying and praying for success of the election, gladdens my heart, and I am proud to be part of this programme.

“It is very conspicuous, especially with the number of royal fathers present here. I know what it means for traditional rulers, those next to God, to publicly offer prayers, and telling God what they want, you can be rest assured that APC can never have it better than this.”

Ojelabi however admonished the people to go and collect their Permanent Voters Card (PVC), noting that human beings have to play their part for the God-part to work effectively.

“The process of PVC collection is a continuous exercise, and it is good that INEC has extended its service to Saturdays and Sundays now. It is also not limiting itself to the office, but its officials are now in 245 registration areas across the state. INEC is taking the exercise closer to the people and we are encouraging our people to appropriate the effort.

“I am sure that with these efforts, the number of uncollected PVCs will reduce and almost everybody will eventually get their cards.
